DM & HAS - Mission Oak High School (Tulare, CA)

DM & HAS built a drone-based herd health monitoring system that helps dairy operators identify cows showing signs of illness, injury or distress across large open lots. The drone provides wide-area visual coverage that no single ground observer can match, capturing subtle behavioral and physical cues, such as gait changes, isolation from the herd and abnormal posture, in animals that might otherwise go unnoticed for days. The platform extends monitoring to young calves and hard-to-reach corners of the operation, supporting earlier intervention, better animal welfare outcomes and reduced labor demands in California's top agricultural commodity.
