MRC Farm Robotics - Mark Richardson CTE Center and Agricultural Farm (Santa Maria, CA)
MRC Farm Robotics, a team of FFA students from across the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District, integrated a custom autonomous sprayer with the Amiga platform to serve the small vegetable farms that dominate California's Central Coast. The sprayer pairs a 10-gallon, adjustable-height tank with a dual-nozzle boom designed for the region's standard 38-inch beds. Path-planning routines guide the platform straight down each bed with minimal overlap, improving coverage uniformity while reducing chemical use and operator exposure. The result is a right-sized, repeatable spraying solution for growers whose acreage and crop diversity make conventional tractor-mounted equipment impractical or inefficient.
